Cable Brimmed Hat ( Ladies Large)
(Ideal for chemocaps, keeps ears warm)

Yarn must be washable and soft
1 skein worsted weight variegated yarn
1 skein solid worsted weight yarn
4- Size 8 double point needles
1- Size 8 circular needle
The brim is knit first in a 12 stitch band with a cable then the ends
are sewn together. Stitches are then picked up along the side of the
band and
the hat is completed 1st with circular needles then the top decreased
with the double point needles.
For Brim
With 2 of the double point needles cast on 12 stitches with the variegated
yarn. Row 1: Knit across.
Row 2: K3 ,p6, K3
Row 3: Knit across.
Repeat once having done a total of 6 rows.
Row 7: K3 place next 3 stitches on cable holder. K 3. Pick up stitches
from cable holder and knit, knit remaining stitches.
Row 8: K 3, p6,K 3.
Repeat rows 1-8 for approx. 22 inches. Cast off after last cable. Weave ends
together creating a band for the brim of the hat.
Cap
Using circular needle, pick up approx. 65 stitches from brim using solid yarn.
Knit around while evenly increasing until there are 100 stitches. Knit on circular
until 6 inches. Divide stitches evenly on 3 double point needles, place a marker
and decrease as follows:
Round 1: K 8, K 2 tog, repeat around to marker.
Round 2: K 7, K2 tog, repeat around to marker.
Round 3: K6, K 2 tog, repeat around to marker.
Round 4: K5, K 2 tog, repeat around to marker.
Round 5: K4, K 2 tog, repeat around to marker.
Round 6: K 3, K 2 tog, repeat around to marker.
Round 7: K 2, K 2 tog, repeat around to marker.
Round 8: K 1, K2 tog, repeat around to marker.
Cut yarn leaving a 6" tail. Thread tail through remaining stitches,
draw up tightly and secure. Weave in all ends.
